Many
of our guests have incorporated an event into
their Pyrenean visit for the experience of it
or as part of their training plan. If you would
like to enter any of the following races/ events
listed below (or any others not mentioned here),
we can assist with race entries and provide logistical
support, if required.

103km or 125km distance with 1,743 and 2,380m
of climbing. |

| Trail des 3 Pics |
 |

June 2008
48km point to point mountain trail race over
the 3 peaks of Paloumère, Cagire and Gar with
3,200m of climbing. Enter as an individual (€15)
or relay team of 3 (€33). The race departs from
Arbas (40km from us) and finishes at St-Pe-d'Ardet
(15km from us). The 2007 winning male time was
7hrs 16mins and the winning female completed the
course in 7hrs 27mins.

La Cremaillere
|

Departing Luchon (630m altitude) and finishing
at Superbagneres (1,800m altitude), this is a
very tough 5.3km forest trail race. The average
gradient is 21% and includes a vertical kilometre,
4.5km into the race at an altitude of 1,630m -
there is a sign to warn you. Entry fee is €8.

La Pyreneenne

Departing Saint-Lary-Soulan, there are three
routes to choose from: the challenging 174km "Les
4 Vallees" which includes the Hourquette d'Ancizan,
col du Tourmalet and col d'Aspin; the 120km "Les
3 Vallees" or the 96km "Les 2 Vallees". Further

| La Route de Sud |

19th - 22nd June 2008
La Route de Sud is a UCI 4 day stage race around
the Midi-Pyrénées. Now into its 32nd edition (created
in 1977), it attracts many of the world's top professionals.
Stage 3 on 21st June is an epic route over 4 mountains
to finish at the summit of Superbagneres. You can
cycle to watch this stage at several points. The
route of this stage climbs the west side of the
col du Tourmalet, descends to Bagneres de Bigorre
where it then takes a route through the rolling
foothills to Saint Lary Soulon. The riders then
climb the col d'Azet to then descend to Loudenville
before climbing the penultimate col of the day -
the Peyresourde. Descending into Luchon, the riders
face the final challenge of the day to finish at
the summit of Superbagneres. The following day,
the riders depart Saint Gaudens (20km from us) and
follow a reasonably flat route to the finish at
Castres. |

La Hubert Arbes

Departing from Lourdes, there is a choice
of two routes: 107km or 159km. Both routes ascend
the east side of the famous col du Tourmalet.
Following the descent, the shorter routes heads
directly back to Lourdes whilst the longer route
takes in the col des Borderes and col du Soulor.

Tourmalet Duathlon

Starting around Bagneres-de-Bigorre and including
the Col du Tourmalet on the bike leg. The race
starts with a 5km run and finishes with 4.5km
run over rolling terrain. The entry fee is 20
Euros and includes a post race meal.

L'Ariegeoise
|
 |

Starting in Tarascon-sur-Ariege with three
courses on offer: grand circuit 163km (3,121m
climbing); petit route 101km (2,408m climbing);
and the cyclotouriste 77km (683m climbing). Entry
cost includes a shirt and post race food and is
between €28 and €34 depending on distance.

Val d'Aran Duathlon

The race venue is the village of Fos, close
to the Spanish border. This year, the race incorporates
the French Long Course Duathlon Championships.
Race distances are: 9km run (300m climbing), 85km
bike (2,185m climbing, including col du Mente
twice and col de Buret twice), 16km run (220m
climbing).

| Tour des Pyrénées |

This is a professional UCI 4 day stage race
around the Midi- Pyrénées involving both the French
and Spanish sides of the Pyrénées. This year, 2
stages are within cycling distance of our guest
house, with the possibility of watching the Prologue
in Tarbes.

La Barousse-Balès Cyclosportive

A mountainous cyclosportive, starting and
finishing just 5km from us at Loures-Barousse
with a new route for 2008. There are two distances
on offer - 147km including the col de Peyresoude
and Port de Bales, or 105km including Port de
Bales (altitude 1,755m). Race entry is €27 and
includes a post race meal. Further details and

Ronde des Fleurs

10km road race held during the annual Flower
Festival in the spa town of Luchon. Entry fee

Raid Barousse

Our local trail race, starting just a few
kilometres from us. Choice of three distances:
a 60km ultra-trail race with 3,000m of climbing,
including the ascent of Mont Ne at an altitude
of 2,145m; 25km trail race with 1,400m of climbing
or 12km trail race with 400m of climbing. Entry
fees are €25, €20 and €10 respectively and include
a post race meal for the 60km and 25km races.

and climbing 1,170m all the way to finish at the

Encausse les Thermes. Three distances available:
32km with 600m of climbing, 60km with 1,300m of

2008 marks the 20th running of this popular
cyclosportive. Departing from Luchon, there are
three courses available: 156km with 3,400m of
climbing, including the hors category Port de
Bales; 107km with 2,185m of climbing and 59km
with 870m of climbing. All three routes cross
the border to Spain at Fos and return to France
over the col du Portillon. Visit the race website

St Aventin, near ski town of Luchon to finish
on a big climb at the high altitude Lake of Lac
d'Oô. There is 750m of climbing and the course
record is 58 minutes, 36 seconds. Entry costs
€13 for non license holders.
